Description

EngineBits Bare Cylinder Head for the Land Rover TD5 (16P) 2.5L 5-cylinder Diesel Engine.

This bare head is manufactured for use in TD5 applications (Defender, Discovery, etc.). It is supplied with valve guides and seats fitted, providing a ready base for rebuilds or custom assembly.

Key details & considerations:

✔ Constructed in aluminum alloy (standard for TD5 heads).

✔ The head uses an upper camshaft carrier bolted to the head (integral cam carrier design).

✔ Pre-EU3 vs EU3 variants have different fuel rail / injector return plumbing (heads are not fully interchangeable).

✔ Through-bolt design (head bolts pass through cam carrier and head into block) for better bore sealing.

✔ Injector socket strength is a known weak point; many upgraded heads use thicker injector socket walls.

Note: Valve seats may require customizing (cutting) to suit the exact valves you use and get proper installed heights.

Recommended use: Ideal when your original head is cracked, warped, or damaged beyond repair, and you have or plan to supply valves / springs / machined surfaces to complete reassembly.
